Welcome to Gili Trawangan
Here is some information from us at The Yoga Garden to help make your stay peaceful and memorable!
Your Stay
Check in is from 2pm and Checkout by 10am. Please leave your key at reception.
Wifi — Gili Trawangan is a very small island, and so wifi can be slow at times! For a faster connection you can use a local SIM card (can be purchased for a few dollars at the phone shop in the street behind us).
Electricity — Gili Trawangan is a very small island, and we rely on electricity from Lombok mainland. It is fairly common for the island to experience blackouts, but don’t panic - we are equipped with a backup generator, so if the power cuts out, it will come back on in a few minutes.
Water — Island tap water is quite fresh - but don’t drink it. We provide fresh filtered water in jugs to your room each day, and you can refill your jug from the water gallon near the Yoga Shala.
Yoga — We hold yoga classes 2-3 times per day in our yoga shala, please join us for class! Find our timetable here. Classes are suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced yogis. Please be mindful of noise while yoga classes are running to help us maintain our peaceful atmosphere.
Pool — We share the pool with Freedive Gili, so if you notice students being taught in the pool please be mindful and we will do our best to accommodate you. Generally our diving instructors and students will use the pool in the morning from 9-11am.
Local Culture — There are two large mosques on the island, depending on the wind direction sometimes the traditional daily prayers can be heard just before sunrise, at midday, mid afternoon, sunset and after dark. During religious festivals such as Ramadan, the Mosque speakers are also used to broadcast information around the island. Please be respectful when walking in the village (the streets behind the beaches) as Indonesian Islamic culture is quite conservative, so enjoy the sunshine on the beach, but please be respectful of local families by not wearing revealing clothing when exploring the back streets of the island.

Transport
On the Island
Rent a bicycle from any vendor along the street for 50k per day. Cycling around the island takes approximately half an hour. There are no hills however there are a few patches of soft sand. Horse carts can also be booked for luggage.
To Gili Meno or Gili Air
The other islands can be reached by private speed boat (10 mins, around 350k one way) or public boat (15-25 mins). We would be happy to help you book.
To Lombok
Lombok is a beautiful island with many waterfalls, great surf breaks and plenty to do. Getting to Lombok takes around half an hour by public boat to Bangsal Harbour (during daylight hours), and 15 minutes by private speed boat, arriving in Teluk Nara Harbour. The drive to Mataram is around 45 minutes, 1.5 hours to Priya Airport and 2.5 hours to Kuta.
To Bali
Travelling to Bali by fast boat takes you to Padang Bai (+ 2 hour drive to Denpasar airport), or to Serangan (30 minutes to the airport). We recommend Eka Jaya or Bluewater Express boat companies for a reliable and safe journey.
